HGTV has removed the long-running home renovation series “Rehab Addict” from its platforms after footage surfaced showing host Nicole Curtis using a racial slur during filming, according to network statements and media reports published this week. Curtis issued a public apology, saying the language was wrong and not part of her vocabulary, while expressing gratitude for the show’s 15-year run.

The network said it was recently made aware of the offensive comment and determined the language did not align with its values, leading to the series’ removal from all HGTV platforms. The video, first released online the same day the show was scheduled to return for a new season, captured Curtis blurting out the slur while working on set.

Curtis apologized in statements shared with media outlets, saying she was sorry to everyone affected and emphasizing that her current focus is on family, relationships and community rather than her career. She also said she had been unaware of the network’s decision at the time it occurred.

“Rehab Addict,” which followed Curtis’ restoration of older homes, had aired for more than a decade and built a substantial audience around preservation-focused renovation projects. The cancellation marks an abrupt end to the program’s latest planned return following a hiatus.

No additional programming decisions or future projects involving Curtis have been announced.
